How to Study or Check the Santa Fe(SM) Trouble Code.
2003 G 2.0 DOHC Engine Unleaded GEN P0340 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction
Study Component Location
Study Description
1. General Description
The Camshaft Position Sensor Study(CMPS) is a sensor that detects the compression TDC Study of the NO. 1 cylinder. The Study CMPS consists of a hall type sensor and a target on the end of the intake camshaft. When Study the target triggers the sensor, the Study sensor voltage is 5V. If not, the sensor voltage is 0V. Study These CMPS signal is sent to the ECM and the ECM uses the CMPS signal for synchronizing the firing of sequential fuel injectors.
2. DTC Description
If there is no change of signal, Study the ECM judged as a fault and DTC is set.
Study DTC Detecting Condition
Study Item
Detecting Condition
Possible Cause
Study DTC Strategy
● Change in output voltage(ΔVcam) is monitored
● Poor connection
● Open or short in CMPS
● Defective CMPS
● Defective ECM
Study Enable Conditions
● Engine running condition
Study Threshold value
● ΔVcam = 0
Study Diagnostic Time
● Continuous
Study MIL ON condition
● 2 driving cycles
Study Schematic Diagram
Study Signal Waveform
Study The given data is the normal waveform of the Crankshaft Position Sensor(CKPS) and Camshaft Position Sensor(CMPS) at idle. Study The ECM controls the injection timing and the ignition Study timing by using these signals. Study Generally CKPS signal is used to detect the piston’s position and CMPS signal is used to detect the Top Dead Center of each cylinder.
