1Study .Perform the following steps to complete the load test procedure for maintenance free batteries.

2.Study Connect the load tester clamps to the terminals and proceed with the test as follow:

(1)Study If the battery has been on charge, remove the surface charge by connect a 300ampere load for 15 seconds.

(2)Study Connect the voltmeter and apply the specified load.

(3)Study Read the voltage after the load has been applied for 15 seconds.

(4)Study Disconnect the load.

(5)Study Compare the voltage reading with the minimum and replace the battery if battery test voltage is below that shown in the voltage table.

Study Voltage

STUDY CAUTION

Study Care should be taken in the event the battery case is cracked or leaking, to protect your skin from the electrolyte.

Study Heavy rubber gloves (not the household type) should be wore when removing the battery.

4.Study Inspect the battery tray for damage caused by the loss of electrolyte. If acid damage is present, it will be necessary to clean the area with a solution of clean warm water and baking soda. Scrub the area with a stiff brush and wipe off with a cloth moistened with baking soda and water.

5.Study Clean the top of the battery with the same solution as described above.

6.Study Inspect the battery case and cover for cracks. If cracks are present, the battery must be replaced.

7.Study Clean the battery posts with a suitable battery post tool.

8.Study Clean the inside surface of the terminal clamps with a suitable battery cleaning tool. Replace damaged or frayed cables and broken terminal clamps.

9.Study Install the battery in the vehicle.

10Study .Connect the cable terminals to the battery post, making sure tops of the terminals are flush with the tops of the posts.

11.Study Tighten the terminal nuts securely.

12.Study Coat all connections with light mineral grease after tightening.

CAUTION

Study When batteries are being charged, an explosive gas forms beneath the cover of each cell. Do not smoke near batteries being charged or which have recently been charged. Do not break live circuit at the terminals of batteries being charged.

Subject: Impossible to Start The Engine – Diesel Fuel

1) Condition:

  1. Impossible to start the engine.
  2. Cranking ids possible.

2) Cause:

  1. Fuel line is clogged with contaminated diesel fuel.

3)  Trouble Diagnosis:

  1. Scan tool check.
= Current data: fuel pressure is lower than 44 bar during cranking.
Specification : Higher than 150 bar.
  2. Check the low pressure fuel line – The fuel pump does not operate.
  3. After replacing the fuel pump, Start the engine is possible but hesitation still occurs.
  4. Check the service data.
    = No trouble found.
= The amount of fuel injection is 24 cc in the idle condition.

Does Engine Stalling When You Accelerate?

Model: Hyundai Santa Fe
Tear Model: 2002
Mileage: 126345km
Displacement: 2000cc
Fuel : Diesel
T/A : All
Subject: Engine Stalling When Accelerating in Cold Condition – Fuel Tube
1) Condition
  1. Engine Stalling in Cold Condition When Accelerating Suddenly.
    = Normal In Idling Condition.
= Engine stalls more frequently in cold condition than in heat condition.
  2. Engine stalls intermittently when driving in heating condition.
= Normal in idling condition, but the engine stalls when driving on hilly road or decelerating suddenly
    .
2) Cause
  1. Due to the fluctuation of low pressure tube, the fuel is not supplied enough so the engine stalls when accelerating.
3) Diagnosis
  1. Scan tool check.
= Diagnostic trouble code( P1181 = Fuel pressure monitoring fail.
= Current data = Normal in cold and idling condition.(WGT).
= The fuel pressure control valve increases abnormally when accelerating the engine suddenly.
  2. Inspect the rail pressure(from low pressure to high pressure).
= Check the pressure after stalling the fuel pressure gauge to low pressure line( The line between the low pressure pump and fuel filter)
= The pressure is measured by 2.8 in idling condition.
    ( STANDARD VALUE 2.5~2.8 bar)
    =
The pressure after installing the fuel pressure gauge between the filter and high pressure pump.
= Normal pressure in idling condition.
= The fuel pressure decreases rapidly when decelerating after the fuel pressure gauge is installed.
  3. Inspect the fuel filter.
= Drain the water from the fuel filter.
= Check if there are remains in fuel filter after discharging the fuel.
  4. Check the line from fuel filter to high pressure pump.
= The tube near by fuel filter has been damaged.
4) Repair Guides
  1. P1181 (C010) is related to fuel pressure. This is a basis of diagnosis.
  2. Damage of tube may be occurred when producing the tube.
The engine stalls in cold condition frequently because the fuel tube is contracted  in cold condition more than in heating condition. Therefore the fuel is not supplied enough to high pressure pump. Compared with this, in heating condition, the amount of contraction is small so the problem is not occurred.
  3. If the fuel pressure malfunction is suspected, inspect the fuel pressure data and fuel pressure regulator  data in G- Scan with below condition.
  4. P1181 (C010) fuel pressure monitoring fail ( fuel pressure high idle ) code
= this code is displayed when abnormal fuel pressure is detected.
